Community Health Center / Clinica Sierra Vista
Clinica Sierra Vista is one of the largest, private, non-profit, community-based and governed agencies in California - a leader in the provision of primary health care and preventive health education services. Clinica Sierra Vista is also a multi-institutional model for rural health care delivery. Since 1971, Clinica Sierra Vista has grown to twenty-four sites, with over 900 employees.
Epilepsy Society of Kern County
The Epilepsy Society of Kern County, Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to the advocacy and empowerment of individuals with epilepsy and other seizure disorders through education, personal counseling and encouragement, support groups, and promotion of independence, self-sufficiency and responsibility.
Kern County Mental Health System of Care
The Mary K. Shell Mental Health Center is accessible during and after normal business hours as an alternative to more restrictive care facilities such as a hospital. The crisis stabilization unit offers 24 hour services including crisis intervention to prevent hospitalization, assessment and referral to other mental health services, psychiatric evaluation and monitoring, and other services to those in need.
Kern County Public Health Clinics
The Kern County Department of Public Health offers a variety of community clinics on a monthly basis to assist all County residents in ensuring good health and promoting wellness. Fees vary for each clinic, and most clinics accept Medi-Cal, Family Pact or sliding scale payments.
Kern Medical Hospital
Kern Medical is a 222 bed acute care teaching hospital owned and operated by the County of Kern. The health of the citizens of Kern County is a priority to Kern Medical, and it is the only hospital dedicated to physician resident training. KMC provides care for over 16,000 inpatients annually, while the clinics provide care and services for over 100,000 patients; the Emergency room experiences 43,000 visits per year.
